SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
Following a successful first quarterly #WhenWomenSpeak, Brainstorm is now looking for pieces for its second quarterly of the year on mental health.
Please pitch us! Here are some topic ideas:
Public hospitals and mental health, mental health institutions, availability of counselling and psychiatric help, availability of drugs, mental health law, mental health funding in the budget, community support for the mentally ill, training of mental healthcare-givers, discrimination against the mentally ill, the marriage bill and mental health, the word ‘retarded’, Mathare hospital, mental health and our families, depression, dementia and whatever else you could think of.
We are seeking essays/stories/experiences from 2000 to 4000 words, and you would need to be able to turn in a first draft by 11.59 pm on Monday, May 26.
We’re also looking for poetry and photo-essays on the same. If you have an idea for an interview or a short feature, we’re looking for that too.
Please send pitches to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Mental Health Pitch” by 11.59pm on Monday, May 12. The pitches should have a minimum of 200 words. We will respond to all pitches after that date.
Please forward this call for submissions to anyone you think might have something interesting to send our way.
